Polynucleotides

Repair, regenerate and restore your skin from within.

Polynucleotides are one of the most exciting advances in aesthetics. Rather than adding volume or simply hydrating, they work at a cellular level to switch on your skin’s natural repair process. The result is skin that looks healthier, stronger, firmer and more radiant, and the improvement keeps building for weeks after treatment.

I offer two polynucleotide treatments: one for the face and neck, and one specially designed for the delicate under-eye area.

What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are highly purified DNA fragments, sourced from salmon. When they’re placed in the skin, they act like a wake-up call for your skin cells. They:

  • Stimulate fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen and elastin
  • Improve hydration by helping the skin hold on to water
  • Support repair of damaged, thin or stressed skin
  • Help calm inflammation, making them great for sensitive or reactive skin

Because polynucleotides work with your body’s own repair system, results look completely natural. You’ll simply look like a healthier, fresher version of yourself.

FAQ's

How are polynucleotides different from skin boosters?

Most skin boosters work mainly by hydrating the skin with hyaluronic acid. Polynucleotides go a step further by repairing and regenerating the skin at a cellular level. They’re ideal if your skin is thin, damaged or scarred, or if hydrating boosters haven’t given you the results you want. They also work brilliantly alongside skin boosters.

Are polynucleotides fillers?

No. Polynucleotides don’t add volume or change the shape of your face. They improve the quality and health of your skin, so you look fresher, not different.

Does it hurt?

Polynucleotides are given with very fine needles. Most clients feel a slight scratch or sting. Numbing cream can be applied first to keep you comfortable.

Is there any downtime?

You’ll have small raised bumps at the injection points, which usually settle within 24–48 hours. Mild redness, swelling or occasional bruising is also possible. Under-eye treatments can cause a little puffiness for a day or two. Most clients go straight back to their normal day, but book at least 2 weeks before a big event.

When will I see results?

Results build gradually. Many clients notice brighter, healthier-looking skin within a few weeks, with the best results showing a few weeks after the final session of the course, as your skin keeps producing new collagen.

How long do results last?

Typically 6–12 months, depending on your age, skin and lifestyle. Maintenance sessions keep your skin looking its best.

Are polynucleotides vegan?

No, they’re sourced from salmon DNA. If you’re vegan or have a fish allergy, Collagenex is a great alternative. You can find it on my Skin Boosters page.

Can I combine polynucleotides with other treatments?

Yes. They work beautifully alongside skin boosters, anti-wrinkle treatment, HIFU and microneedling. The timing between treatments matters, so we’ll plan your treatments together at your consultation.

Who isn't suitable for polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides aren’t suitable if you have a fish allergy, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an infection, cold sore or active acne in the treatment area. If you have an autoimmune condition, take blood thinners or have any other medical conditions, please let me know, and we’ll check everything at your consultation.
