Anti-wrinkle treatments involve the use of botulinum toxin, a prescription-only medicine that is injected by a trained healthcare professional. The aim is to temporarily relax targeted muscles in the face, which can help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Because this is a prescription treatment, you must have a consultation with a prescriber first. During this appointment your medical history, concerns, and goals will be reviewed to assess whether the treatment is suitable for you. A prescription will only be issued if the prescriber decides it is safe and appropriate.

Types of Botulinum Toxin
There are several licensed brands of botulinum toxin used in the UK. All contain the active ingredient (botulinum toxin type A), but they are made by different manufacturers and may vary slightly in their formulation:

Botox® – the original and most widely recognised brand.

Bocouture® – a formulation without complexing proteins, which some prescribers prefer for certain patients.

Azzalure® – licensed for the treatment of frown lines and crow’s feet.

Alluzience® – a ready-to-use liquid version, which can reduce the need for reconstitution before treatment.
Your prescriber will decide which brand is most appropriate for your needs.
Suitability
Anti-wrinkle treatment may be considered for adults seeking to reduce the appearance of lines such as frown lines, forehead lines, or crow’s feet.
It is not suitable for:

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding

People with certain medical conditions (such as some neuromuscular disorders)

Individuals with allergies to any of the ingredients in the product

Those for whom the prescriber advises against treatment after consultation
- Time: 15 Minutes
- Pain: 7/10
- Downtime: 24 Hours (Must not lay flat for 4 hours following treatment)
- Do’s/Dont’s: Do avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to treatment. Don’t rub the area following treatment, don’t lay after treatment, don’t participate in activity that will make you sweat for 48 hours following treatment
- Longevity: 3 – 6 months
